What is the TacticLab FC 26 squad builder?

The TacticLab FC 26 squad builder helps you turn a list of players into a starting XI. Search real FC 26 base-player records, assign players to a formation, inspect their full base-card artwork and ratings, and share the finished lineup with a link. You do not need to sign in to build a squad.

It is designed for planning with players you actually have: search for their names and place them in your team yourself. It does not connect to your EA account or import your club. If you own a special Ultimate Team version of a player, its boosted attributes may differ from the base ratings shown here.

How to build an FC 26 squad with your own players

Start with the players available to you, rather than copying a team you cannot use. These steps take you from an empty pitch to a lineup you can review.

  1. Open the squad builder and choose 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2.
  2. Select a position on the pitch or in the starting-eleven list. The selected slot determines where the next player will be assigned.
  3. Type at least two letters of a player's name. If the name is not found, try a shorter surname spelling.
  4. Check the card, club, position and base attributes, then choose Assign. Selecting a player already in your lineup moves that player rather than creating a duplicate.
  5. Repeat for the remaining positions. Review the assigned-player count, average overall and out-of-position warnings.
  6. Choose a playing style and preview Setup, Attack, Defence and Transition before saving or sharing your team.

Choosing between 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1 and 4-4-2

The best formation for your squad depends on its available positions and how you want to play. A player's overall rating is useful, but it does not tell you whether that player fits a particular slot. Use the position labels and warnings to spot mismatches before comparing alternatives.

Changing formation keeps your assigned players. The builder first tries to retain matching slots, then compatible positions, and places any remaining players in empty slots. Always review the resulting lineup: keeping a player assigned does not mean the new position suits them.

  • 4-3-3 gives you a striker, two wide forwards, two central midfielders and a defensive midfielder. It is a useful starting point when your available players include natural wingers.
  • 4-2-3-1 has two defensive-midfield slots, a central attacking midfielder and wide midfielders behind one striker. Compare it when you want a different balance between midfield support and attacking positions.
  • 4-4-2 includes two strikers and a four-player midfield. Consider it when you want to plan around a strike partnership instead of one central forward.

Read full player cards and the six-axis attribute radar

Full FC 26 base-card pictures appear in search results, selected-player details and assigned pitch slots. They help you recognise the player, while the accompanying text keeps the name, overall rating and positions available if an image fails to load.

Select a player to see a six-axis radar chart on a fixed 0–99 scale. For outfield players, the axes are PAC, SHO, PAS, DRI, DEF and PHY: pace, shooting, passing, dribbling, defending and physical. A larger area on an axis represents a higher rating; the shape is an attribute profile, not a chemistry score or prediction of match performance.

Goalkeepers use different attributes: DIV, HAN, KIC, REF, SPD and POS represent diving, handling, kicking, reflexes, speed and positioning. Do not compare a goalkeeper's radar directly with an outfield player's chart as if the axes meant the same thing.

Use the chart to ask practical questions. Does a midfielder's passing profile support the role you want? Does a forward's pace suit your intended transition play? Then consider position compatibility and the rest of the team. Do not select every player solely by the largest radar shape.

Preview player movement in attack, defence and transitions

Choose Balanced, Possession, Counter attack or High press, then switch between the four phase previews. The pitch shows illustrative movement arrows and positions. The selected-player panel explains the suggested role and the reason behind it.

Setup shows the starting shape. Attack, Defence and Transition let you examine how the illustration changes with the phase, selected playing style, player position and relevant base ratings. You can swap two slots, replace a player or remove an assignment to compare another arrangement.

This is a tactical planning aid, not a live match simulator. It does not reproduce FC's game engine, calculate exact runs or apply official FC role instructions. Treat the preview as a suggestion to test in your own matches, not a promise of how a player will behave.

Save your lineup and share your FC 26 squad

Choose Save lineup to keep your squad in the current browser. It will be available when you reopen the builder on that device. Currently, one lineup is saved locally; saving a new one replaces it. Clearing the on-screen pitch does not delete your saved lineup unless you save the cleared version.

Choose Share link to generate a snapshot containing the formation, playing style and assigned players' public data, including their base attributes and card-image references. Copy the link and send it to someone who wants to review your team.

The snapshot is encoded in the URL fragment, not stored as a private account-based squad. Anyone with the link can read it, and later edits do not update an earlier shared snapshot. Opening another person's link does not automatically overwrite a locally saved squad. Saving a shared squad over an existing saved lineup requires confirmation.

Local browser storage is convenient, but it is not a cloud backup. Clearing site data, switching browsers or moving to another device can leave you without the saved copy. Keep a share link if you want a portable snapshot, and do not add private information to it.

Base ratings, special cards and squad-builder limitations

Player search uses a third-party FC 26 base-rating database. The data snapshot may lag in-game changes, and availability depends on that source. It is not a live EA club inventory or a complete special-card database.

The builder does not currently calculate Ultimate Team chemistry, squad prices, budgets, Squad Building Challenge requirements or manager effects. A filled XI or a high average overall is not proof of chemistry, eligibility or match strength.

Use the builder for what it supports: searching base players, checking positions and attributes, organising formations, exploring illustrative movement and sharing a team. This guide covers FC 26 base players specifically, not FC Mobile, eFootball or special Ultimate Team items. TacticLab is an independent tool, not an official EA product.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use the FC 26 squad builder without an account?

Yes. You can search players, build a lineup, inspect the radar and generate a share link without signing in. Your saved lineup stays in the current browser.

Can I import my actual Ultimate Team club?

No. Search for the players you own and assign them manually. The builder does not connect to your EA account, and the displayed attributes are FC 26 base ratings rather than every special-card version.

Does the squad builder show full player-card pictures?

Yes. Full base-card artwork appears in search results, player details and assigned pitch slots. Text and ratings remain available when artwork cannot load.

Does the radar show chemistry or predicted gameplay performance?

No. The radar plots six actual base attributes on a 0–99 scale. Goalkeepers have goalkeeper-specific axes. It does not calculate chemistry or predict a match result.

Can I share a squad with someone on another device?

Yes. Share link creates a portable lineup snapshot. Opening it restores that snapshot without automatically replacing the recipient's saved squad. Create a new link after making changes you want to share.

Will the movement preview show exactly how my players act in FC 26?

No. It illustrates possible movement based on positions, playing style and base ratings. It is not a game-engine simulation or an official FC instruction. Test the suggested arrangement in your own matches.
